This handblown glass vase is formed with steel molds crafted by Matt Kolbrener to capture surface textures inspired by the postindustrial landscape.
Matt Kolbrener has been honing his glass blowing and steel fabrication techniques since 2007 by working with and studying under world-class artists and craftspeople. Inspired by the post-industrial landscapes of Pittsburgh and Detroit, Matt's approach to shaping hot glass has its roots in mass production. He constructs custom-made molds and tooling to form and texture the hot glass into shapes that capture Detroit's rich manufacturing history in an industrial, modern, retro aesthetic all his own.
This vase is handmade, so no two are exactly alike in size, shape, or color. They measure approximately 7.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches across at the base.
